YMCC is a biennial routine activity which is a development of the Yogya Mining Competition work program which had previously been implemented on a provincial scale for 8 consecutive years. Then since 2016, YMCC has developed into a national-scale YMCC, and now it has grown even larger to an international scale.

YMCC IV was held in 2021 in Bejiharjo Village, Karangmojo District, Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region with the theme “Technological Innovation for Sustainable Mining Industry”. In addition to increasing its scale to semi-international, YMCC IV 2021 presented a new atmosphere in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic without leaving the main objectives of YMCC by using the online concept in the course of competition and continuing to carry out useful activities such as the construction of water jeמּing installations so as to improve the welfare of the surrounding community.
